Naturalist & Researcher

Scientific Biography

Dedicated to the documentation and taxonomic study of Indonesian entomofauna, with a focus on the biodiversity of Bali and the surrounding Wallacea region.

Background & Mission

BaliBug was established as a bridge between rigorous scientific observation and public ecological awareness. My work centers on the belief that effective conservation starts with precise documentation. By recording the morphological nuances and behavioral patterns of insects in their natural habitats, we create a baseline for future ecological protection.

Throughout years of field expeditions, I have collaborated with international institutions to facilitate taxonomic research, ensuring that Indonesia's hexapod diversity is recognized and preserved in global scientific records.

Research Focus

Taxonomy of Phasmatodea Specializing in the identification and formal description of stick and leaf insects endemic to Indonesia.
Ecological Observation Monitoring habitat shifts and population trends of nocturnal insects in Bali's primary forests.
Ethical Documentation Advancing the standards of scientific macro-photography as a non-invasive tool for biodiversity records.

Field Expedition History

2020 — Present Bali Biodiversity Mapping Ongoing documentation of insect population density in North and West Bali National Parks. Preliminary records and upcoming species descriptions are currently in progress.
2018 — 2019 Peleng Island Expedition Field research lead for the documentation of Nesiophasma giganteum and other endemic species. Detailed scientific records and taxonomic notes from this expedition can be found in our Publications & Records.

Note: Several scientific manuscripts regarding new species discovered in Bali are currently under review. Updates will be posted on the Publications page upon official release.
